What is Pay Per Click?
Pay Per Click search engines provide a guaranteed placement of an advertisement on a search results page whenever a specific keyword has been searched. The chosen keywords are ones which best describe your product or services. The advertisers pay a small amount whenever their advertisement is clicked by a visitor (hence the term “Pay Per Click”), therefore there is no payment unless an advertisement is clicked. The amount an advertiser pays per click of their advert varies, the more they are willing to pay the higher the likelihood they will appear at the top of the advertisers on the search results page.
An advertisement on a Pay Per Click search engine usually consists of a title, and a small summary of your website with a link to your website.
A Pay Per Click campaign is an extremely successful way to generate targeted traffic to a website because an advertiser only pays for actual clicks to their website. It allows them to get targeted traffic, whilst closely controlling the amount they spend on a marketing campaign. They can easily track the effectiveness of the advertisement campaign and there are no risks due to the traffic being highly targeted and the costs being tightly controlled.
Pay Per Click is now also available on other websites, not just search engines. Pay Per Click advertisements can be included on websites using products such as Google's Pay Per Click product, Adsense.
Pay Per Click is also known as Pay Per Ranking, Pay Per Placement or Pay Per Position.
